Get Kids Off the TV by Hosting a Game Party

Spending quality time with your kids and their friends might not always be an easy task in this day and age. Thankfully, the timeless magic of card and board games is here to the rescue! Below, you will find a few game party tips that will ensure a lot of fun times with your loved ones and their friends.

Throw a Card and Board Game Party:

Card and board games are a phenomenal way to get the family and friends together, so why not host a game party for all? Make sure you have a few card and board games available and don’t forget the snacks! As sad as it is to admit, when your kids grow up, they mostly want to hang out with their friends. Don’t let this stop you from having regular family games nights. Let your children know that their friends are welcome to join in on the fun. Even if you have young kids, game nights are a fantastic way to get their friends over and make sure you keep tabs on your children, as they’ll be playing in a familiar and safe environment, under your supervision.

Make Up Your Own Rules:

One of the best things about card and board games is that you can make up your own rules or bend the existing ones. This is a great idea to make things a bit more exciting and mix it up a bit. For something truly special and unique, you could even take it to the next level and create a family game together, with your own very own set of rules and tasks.

Set Up Some Appealing Rewards:

Some say that "the journey is more important than the destination," but at times, an exciting reward can contribute to a more exciting gaming experience! When playing cards or board games, you can set up some high stakes for the players, so things can finally get intriguing! How about prizes and penalties? You can get as imaginative as you want. For instance, you could reward the winner with the next game choice, or troll the loser with the task of helping clean up afterwards!

Then again, most people are just happy with a bunch of candy or some pocket change as a prize for winning a game!

Work with Other Parents to Create a Regular Game Party Hosting Schedule:

Connect with a few parents of your kids' friends and put together a schedule to rotate game parties at rotating houses on a regular schedule.  It doesn't have to be a big commitment, even just monthly or quarterly. This provides parents with a chance to get to know who their kids are hanging with, and also provides the parents who are not hosting, a little free time to get those errands run or enjoy a date night while knowing their kids are safe, supervised, and having fun!

While making time for game parties may take a little creativity and effort, the bonding, memory making, and fun that comes from getting together for game parties is well worth the commitment!
